I am planning to port my prepaid Telenor to tre. Will I be able to retain my balance after porting?

It will not be able to follow, the deposited money is with Telenor and can be used up there. I assume you have a cash card with them, if they offer it.
With 3, you will start over with any unbound subscription & the same number if you want to transfer it.

If I understand you correctly, you are thinking of changing from Telenor to 3 & wondering if you can move with your phone number? A simple number transfer. Or do you mean something else?
It is absolutely possible to port a number from one operator to another.
